We enjoyed singing about September, School, and Fall again, and the warm weather inspired the addition of Summer songs. We had a couple new people come to sing with us, so it was extra special. We started off with my playlist but ended up going off on tangents. The final tangent had us listening to several songs from a Bridgerton playlist, inspired by Taylor Swift's song You Belong to Me. We loved it, so I've included a video of one of the pop song covers in a scene from the show, which I recommend for its beautiful costumes and scenery too.
Here's a partial list of songs we listened to and sang:
- See You in September by the Tempos
- The Boys of Summer byDon Henley
- Summer of 69 by Brian Adams
- Summer in the City by the Lovin' Spoonful
- Cruel Summer by Bananarama and Ace of Base and Taylor Swift
- Just a Cloud Away by Pharrell Williams
- Rainy Days and Mondays by the Carpenters
- Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head by BJ Thomas and by Dionne Warwick
- Be Thou My Vision by JJ Heller
- One More Step Along the World I Go by Jason Manford
- Harvest Moon by Neil Young
- Forever Autumn by the Moody Blues
- Brave by Sara Bareilles
- You Belong to Me by Taylor Swift and by Duomo (Bridgerton)
- Sk8er Boi by Avril Lavigne
We were thinking that next time we could do songs with days of the week, and other calendar references (months, seasons, holidays?) We listened to and sang with Tuesday Afternoon by the Moody Blues and remembered songs with Fridays in them and other Monday songs too. So, that's what I'll work on for next week. We noticed the Canadians in this playlist and thought my Canadian Artists playlist would be good to do soon, and that could last several Thursdays. I'm planning a Halloween playlist for Thursday, Octtober 31st! And, I think a Caribbean theme would be fun for October 24th to get us in the mood for the Steel Pan Concert and Caribbean Dinner! I've got all kinds of playlists ready for us, and I keep adding songs to the la-la list, so we have to re-do that one for sure.
Another topic of discussion was about the possibility of changing the timing of the evening to make it easier for people who don't like to be out too late. We could make my singing night a little earlier and a little shorter 7-8:30. What do you think?
