Trinity Folks, Sing and Dance with me Pride Weekend 2026

There will be music; there will be dancing, and joy, and excitement, and pride.

Saturday, June 13th is the York Pride Festival, and the highlight is the Pride Parade which passes by our church on Main Street.

Sunday, June 14th will be our Affirming Anniversary Service, led by the Affirming and Inclusivity Team, of which I am Chair.

Trinity’s Pride Parade Participation 2026

  •          The parade is scheduled to start at 4:00pm and end around 5:30pm.
  • Marchers assemble starting at 3:00.
  • Hospitality table is to be set up around 2:00, and tear-down is at 6:00.

Thousands of people (25,000 estimated) will be in Newmarket for the Pride Festival, and they will pass by our church on Main Street. Every year we have been a welcoming presence on our lawn. I'm so proud of my church!

Let’s show them that we are a welcoming Affirming church! And, it’s a prime location for watching the parade. Come join us!

Please come and see me (Renate) and Jen during Fill My Cup on Sunday, June 7th to:

 • Sign up to march in the parade with a group of York Region United Churches
• Sign up to serve lemonade and cookies on the lawn.

Also, for Sunday's Affirming Anniversary Service, I'm hoping that my Affirming and Inclusivity Team members will take on all the various elements of the service. I will speak and give a presentation about how we're becoming more inclusive and diverse.

The Praise Team and Choir will be performing, along with a drummer! I will have my shakers and drums along too. And, we have a plan to have children singing.

We have a cool sign to march behind and 4 churches will join us.

Singing Together in July and August

I posted this on my YRCC blog, and I think it applies to my Trinity Singers too. While we’re not singing together in July and August, please find opportunities to sing in other places and with other people.  You can always sing in your car and in your kitchen. You can accept all invitations to cottages, camping, and beach days, and do some campfire singing. Or, sing while you paddle around in a lake. Sound carries over water, so have some buddies join you if you’re not comfortable with a solo performance.  Orchestrate some backyard sing-alongs if you can.  Singing outdoors in the summer is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. I’ve enjoyed the free concerts in Aurora and Newmarket in the past. They have ‘tribute bands’ who perform all the hits you know, and you’ll want to sing and dance along. (would be nice if they projected the lyrics for us, because we're used to having those words now) I’ve added these concerts to my YRCC Calendar to encourage my choristers to go. I’...
