First Free Concert of Summer 2026 at Riverwalk Commons July 9

I'm planning to go to the first of the summer concerts at Riverwalk Commons in Newmarket on Thursday nights. There is a tribute band doing Elton John and Billy Joel songs. Lots of songs I can sing along with ;-) I hope to find some of my singing friends there.

There's also a concert in Aurora tomorrow, Wednesday evening. It's a good one: The Beresfords. They did an amazing Taylor Swift concert a couple years ago that had all the little girls believing the singer was TS herself. I'm not planning to go, but I could probably be talked into it...

I've listed all the Aurora and Newmarket free concerts in my York Region Community Choir Calendar.

I just saw on Facebook that there are concerts on Tuesday nights in East Gwillimbury and they have a market too, from 4-9. The Civic Centre is on Leslie at Mt. Albert Road (and south of Mt. Albert/Farr if you're coming from the west). The band tonight looks really good. I'm having a sleepy day today, but if I can get my act together, I'll maybe go.

Here's a link for information about that:

Please consider going to some free outdoor concerts this summer. It's so much fun, and it's free! Because it's outdoors, it's relaxed and you can sing along, dance along, have a beverage and snacks...

  • Bring friends and chairs.
  • Get there early.
  • Check out the weather conditions before you head out.

Singing Together in July and August

I posted this on my YRCC blog, and I think it applies to my Trinity Singers too. While we’re not singing together in July and August, please find opportunities to sing in other places and with other people.  You can always sing in your car and in your kitchen. You can accept all invitations to cottages, camping, and beach days, and do some campfire singing. Or, sing while you paddle around in a lake. Sound carries over water, so have some buddies join you if you’re not comfortable with a solo performance.  Orchestrate some backyard sing-alongs if you can.  Singing outdoors in the summer is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. I’ve enjoyed the free concerts in Aurora and Newmarket in the past. They have ‘tribute bands’ who perform all the hits you know, and you’ll want to sing and dance along. (would be nice if they projected the lyrics for us, because we're used to having those words now) I’ve added these concerts to my YRCC Calendar to encourage my choristers to go. I’...
